The following are my most recent activities (in the past 18 months) and pending new activities (within next 12 months):
Since mid October 2005, I have come to Taichung, Taiwan and joined China Medical University. I am housed in the Department of Pharamcology, School opf Medicine. Administratively,I am in charge of the Center for Faculty Development (CFD) and the Center for International Affairs (CIA).
Recent activities:
***10/2, 10/3 - Visit to Kobayashi Pharmaceutical Company, Osaka to deliver a lecture on "Vascular relaxant effect of luobuma: endothelium-dependent and long-lasting".
***10/4 - Visit to the School of Medicine, Kinki University, Osaka-Sayama to deliver a lecture on "Current new development of PBL curriculum in medical education at McMaster University"
***10/6 - Visit to Tzu-Chi University. College of Life Sciences - symposium on Vascular structure and function.
***10/8-10/10 - Shanghai. Inaugural Conference of the Asian Society for Vascular Biology.
***10/11, 10/12 - Shanghai Pharmacological Society - PBL workshop on medical pharmacology.
***10/15 Officially joined China Medical University, Taichung City, Taiwan
***11/28, 11/29 - World Lingnan Alumni Reunion Assembly in Hong Kong.
***12/3, 12/4 - Cross-straits Symposium on Cardiovascular Sciences.
***12/21-24 - Conference: Harmonization of Tranditional and Western Medicine, RMIT University, Melborne, Australia.

7/6 Invited lecture for the Symposium for Pharmacology Education and in scientific session at IUPHAR2006 in Beijing.
October, 2006 - Organizer for a Symposium on Physiology Education at 6th FAOPS2006 in Korea.
November, 2006 - Invited lecture in 5th Asia Pacific Conference on PBL in Health Sciences in Indonesia. |

| 2nd International Eucommia Symposium | | Held in Yangling (60 min away from Xi'an)on August 6-8, 2005. About 80 participants including 35 from Japan. |

| PBL Workshop participants of the Stomatology Faculty at Wuhan University (04/2005) | | Stomatology at Wuhan University is said to be the first insititute carrying out PBL instructions in China. Dr. Song GT from this institute spent 2 sabbatical months with me and my tutoroial group at McMaster University. We co-authored a paper in Teaching and learning in medicine. |

| PBL workshop at the National Taiwan University School of Medicine | | How to play the role as a tutor in a PBL tutorial (05/01/2005). I also ran a PBL problem constuction workshop. The teachers were given a theme "A baby died after medicaql treatment as a result of medical error". They design a scenario as a trigger for learning. I also delivered a lecture on "Life-long learning in clinical training" (08/02/2005) |

Imposrtnat question to think about: Do you have an admission policy which is consistent with your educational mission? Do you practice what you preach? |
